Professional Registration Required: Texas Professional Engineer who plans, designs, and oversees the construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects. These projects can include roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, airports, water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, and buildings.
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and environmental impact assessments.
Develop detailed design plans, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Oversee construction projects, ensuring adherence to design plans, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Monitor progress, resolve issues, and coordinate with contractors and subcontractors.
Inspect existing infrastructure to identify and address any problems.
Develop maintenance plans and schedules.
Use computer software to analyze structural loads, hydraulic flows, and other engineering data.
Incorporate environmental protection measures into project design and implementation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be proficient in MicroStation or Open Roads and have TxDOT pre-certifications.
Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
Prepare and monitor project budgets with overall responsibility for the profitability of any project assigned.
Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies.
Assist in the development of probable construction cost estimates for projects within the department.
Attend client meetings (day or evening).
Assist in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
Perform design of portions of non-routine projects or entire routine projects under the direction of the project engineer.
Assist in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits for projects.
Instruct draftspersons/technicians to reduce design to final drawings.
Proficiency in the use of Microstation, Geopak, and other Specific programs (for TxDOT, City of San Antonio, TCEQ, etc.) and uses manuals, specifications, etc. for these entities a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
