- Proven experience in garment construction, tailoring, or dressmaking in a retail setting.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, patterns, and sewing techniques.
- Excellent hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills.
- Ability to interpret and follow patterns, designs, and client instructions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical dexterity and stamina for repetitive tasks and extended periods of sitting.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Specialized training in tailoring or fashion design a plus.
- Construct, alter, repair, and fit garments according to customer specifications using sewing machines and hand stitching techniques.
- Interpret patterns, designs, and measurements to create custom clothing and accessories.
- Advise clients on fabric selection, garment designs, and fitting adjustments.
- Perform fittings, take measurements, and make necessary alterations for optimal garment appearance.
- Sew buttons, hooks, zippers, and other fasteners onto garments.
- Maintain and operate sewing machines, irons, and other tailoring equipment.
- Ensure all garments are finished with a high standard of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials.
- Stay updated with latest trends, techniques, and materials in the tailoring industry.
