This role focuses on advising investment funds, sponsors, and financial institutions on complex regulatory and transactional matters involving registered investment companies. The practice includes work on 1940 Act registered funds, business development companies (BDCs), and a wide range of fund structuring, offering, financing, and regulatory issues. The team is highly experienced in innovative fund structures and works closely with M&A colleagues on asset manager transactions involving investment company considerations.

- Strong understanding of the Investment Company Act of 1940
- Experience with registered funds and/or business development companies
- Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills
- Strong regulatory and corporate law knowledge
- Ability to manage complex, detail-oriented matters
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across practice groups
- 2–4 years of experience (Class of 2022–2020) in investment management law
- Experience with 1940 Act registered funds required
- Experience with business development companies strongly preferred
- Prior experience in the investment management group of a peer law firm preferred
- Active bar membership in good standing (Illinois required or ability to waive in)
- Strong academic performance required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- High academic achievement required
